Martha & Marley Spoon Review
Martha & Marley Spoon Review
We’ve eaten some delicious meals from our Martha & Marley Spoon meal box so far. For our first delivery, we selected the vegetarian meal box for 2 people. After cooking a few meals, we found the serving size to be good for 2 adults and usually have some leftover vegetables or grains on the side. For our second delivery, we selected 2 recipes with meat so we could give a full review of both plans.
I always enjoy getting a new delivery, knowing that I’ll be able to taste new flavors with recipes I can save for later.
Martha & Marley Spoon Review Vegetarian Box
We’ve been trying to eat a plant based diet lately, so we thought we’d give the vegetarian meal box a try instead of the usual mixed meal plans with meat. Martha & Marley Spoon offers a vegetarian meal box for the 2 person box, but does not offer a fully vegetarian meal box for families at this time.
Martha & Marley Spoon Review Vegetarian Recipes
Roasted Cauliflower & Lentils
This lentils recipe was a hearty winter meal. I’m always surprised how much I like dates or raisins in these recipes as I have never cooked with them before. The sweetness of the dates pairs really well with the tahini sauce, lentils, and other flavors in this recipe.
The recipe also suggests you add an extra squeeze of lemon juice to your plate once served, but I would suggest tasting it first and then only adding a small amount. We were very satisfied with this meal and would never have thought to combine any of these ingredients on our own.
Winter Papa al Pomodoro
This meal was basically a very flavorful tomato soup with croutons added and served with a side of brussel sprouts. We loved the flavor of this soup so much that I plan on making it again. However, the soup didn’t come out as thick as pictured and was a little less filling than I’d expect for dinner.
Martha & Marley Spoon Recipe Instructions
The recipe card includes a picture of the meal and description on the front and easy to follow instructions on the back.
This recipe instructs you to put almost all of the bread in the soup. My preference would be to use it just as a topping and add more than 1 can of tomatoes in the soup to make it thicker. The flavor of the soup is really good and the brussel sprouts roasted the perfect amount.
Overall, we were satisfied with the vegetarian meal selections and enjoyed cooking and eating Martha & Marley Spoon vegetarian meals.
Martha & Marley Spoon Review 2 Person Box with Meat
Glazed Sesame Drumsticks with Miso Butter Turnips & Greens
I was really excited when I opened the box and saw I would be cooking turnips! I just came across a few recipes with turnips in them and had no idea what they tasted like. Well, I’m glad Martha Stewart knows just how to cook them up. Our sesame drumsticks didn’t turn out as crisp as the recipe card photo, but they were just as tasty I’m sure. The entire meal was finger licking good.
Ancho-Rubbed Steak with Corn, Bean, & Poblano Saute
This meal comes with 12 oz. of steak from Boulder Natural Meats, raised without antibiotics and growth hormones. This steak cooked up tender and flavorful.
We combined the ingredients in the corn tortillas and ate them like tacos. We kept the radishes on the side as they were marinated in vinegar. This was a filling meal for two, with leftover vegetables.
Where Does the Food Come From?
We like that each meal box comes with an insert telling you where your food for that week was sourced.
Martha & Marley Spoon Review of Packaging
Martha & Marley Spoon’s box is delivered well insulated. Inside you’ll find each meal separately bagged and labeled in a brown paper bag. The meat is packaged separately and stored underneath a layer of cardboard, on top of the ice packs. I like having each meal individually packed in a brown bag so I can grab it out of the fridge quickly when I’m ready to cook.
